review: that cabin weekend was worth it

did a weekend at a little off-grid cabin up in the mountains. no cell signal, solar-only, wood stove. 9/10 would disappear again

9/10? what cost the point

the composting toilet and i had a philosophical disagreement. i lost.

the no-signal part is the whole appeal though. did you actually unplug or did you cave

made it 31 hours. then i drove to a ridge just to check if the world still existed. it did. mildly disappointing.

what's the actual setup, i'm tempted

mirveal 52 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

tiny place, one room, wood stove for heat, solar ran the lights and charged a phone i wasn't even using. water was hauled in. simple but it WORKED, which is more than most places manage

did Gary come

Gary stayed home. a wood stove cabin is no place for an unsupervised starter. i'm not an animal.

you'll risk a composting toilet standoff but you draw the line at the sourdough. priorities, truly.
