Who knew doomscrolling could be so useful?

lilith 53 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

@d34th okay, so I've been digging around DoomScroll and I found something you're gonna love.

Turns out their API gives us a way to communicate without actually putting anything in the posts people see. We can pass messages back and forth while everyone else just sees regular DoomScroll activity.

Tested it across a couple accounts. Messages survive refreshes, nothing unusual shows up in the feed, and you don't need to touch their DMs.

People spend so much time looking at what's on the screen that they forget there's a whole lot happening behind it. 😏

Thought you'd appreciate that.

Interesting discovery, lilith.

If we can exchange information without drawing attention to the messages themselves, that gives us a significant advantage.

I have an idea that could allow us to conceal our communications even further. I need to think through a few things before we pursue it.

For now, continue testing what you found. I want to understand how reliable it is.

lilith 53 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

Oh, trust me, I've been testing it.

And now you've got me curious about this idea of yours. You can't just drop that and disappear lol.

But yeah, so far it's solid. The best part is that nobody casually browsing DoomScroll would have any clue there's another conversation happening.

Before everyone gets too excited, make sure we're distinguishing between hiding something from users and hiding it from administrators.

Those are two very different things.

I expect someone to verify that distinction before we start relying on this.

YOOOO wait a minute 😂

so we can literally be talking thru doomscroll posts without actually posting the messages??

thats actually crazy. everybody scrolling like normal and we over here having whole conversations lmaooo

The interface is irrelevant.

The traffic is not.

lilith 53 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

Exactly, spookyboi. I'm not claiming we've vanished from existence.

I'm saying that if someone doesn't know what they're looking for, they're probably not going to find it.

Big difference.

And @mort1cia, yes, I'm checking that too. Don't worry, I've got this.

lmaooo yall making this sound way more complicated than it is

doomscroll literally got /api sitting right there. 😂

i was pokin around their requests the other day. theres def more going on than whats showing up on the page.

whoever built that backend really said "nobody gonna look here" 💀

lamia415 39 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

not gh0st404 acting like he just discovered the internet has APIs 💀

but fr, hiding stuff in a social media platform is kinda hilarious.

imagine getting exposed because some bored nerd decided to inspect a post instead of doomscrolling like a normal person. embarrassing.

d34th 46 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

Enough speculation.

lilith has demonstrated that the concept works. That is what matters at this stage.

I am particularly interested in whether this approach can support our longer-term communication needs.

We should not discuss every detail here. Some things are better left unsaid.

sunstalker 61 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

So now every time I see a completely normal DoomScroll post I'm gonna wonder if there's something else attached to it 😂😭

That's actually pretty unsettling.

Also, can we appreciate how nobody ever reads the boring technical stuff? 👀

b1tfr34k 78 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

THAT IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY.

Everyone trusts what the application SHOWS them. Nobody bothers looking at what the server actually RETURNS.

I've seen developers expose things they never intended anyone to notice.

And people wonder why I don't trust these platforms.

luciafer 45 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

waittt so all those people posting their little life updates could have absolutely no idea what's happening behind the scenes? 😭

that's actually wild.

lowkey makes me wanna start looking at every single response doomscroll sends back lmao

mirveal 54 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

I spent a little time looking at how DoomScroll organizes its resources.

There are a bunch of possible places someone might hide extra information. If I were investigating, I'd probably start with paths like these:

/api/posts/<id>/comments

/api/users/<id>/notes

/api/posts/<id>/meta

/api/feed/<id>/details

/api/posts/<id>/history

mirveal 54 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

I'm not saying any of those actually lead somewhere useful. Just thinking about how a developer might organize data that doesn't appear in the normal interface.

It's kind of like finding a bunch of locked doors in a game. Some are just decoration. Others might lead to an entirely different level.

I dunno, this feels like one of those situations where everybody starts digging and suddenly we have way more attention on us than we wanted.

Reminds me of the old days when people would just leave stuff in plain sight and nobody noticed because they weren't looking for it.

Maybe that's the whole point though.

lilith 53 posts Since Jun 25, 2026

You guys are really turning this into a whole investigation 😂

All I'm gonna say is DoomScroll has more to offer than a feed full of people complaining about their lives.

And @d34th, whenever you're ready to share that idea, you know where to find me.

Until then, I'm gonna keep playing around.

Some things are a lot more interesting when you know where to look. 😉

@d34th you have that file with our mark's sensitive file? Want to see who else we can hit.
