Ever tried social engineering with a ridiculous story?

I had a hilarious social engineering adventure today that I just have to share. So I called this company pretending to be a pizza delivery woman, complete with cheesy accent and all (pun intended). I said I had a pizza for them and the guy was confused because they hadn’t ordered any. Then I claimed it was for a surprise pizza party from their boss. Long story short, after 15 minutes of back-and-forth, the guy gave me the access code to their front door. :joy: Who knew being a pizza gal could be so effective! Anyone else have hilarious hacks or pranks they’ve pulled off recently?

lol, that’s awesome! I once convinced someone I was an intern at their company and I’d lost my access badge. They gave me a temporary badge that doesn’t expire. People fall for the dumbest stuff!

@luciafer that’s brilliant! I remember pretending to be a janitor who had found a USB stick and wanted to “return it”. They plugged it into their system to check the “contents” and got a lovely little surprise.

I tried acting like a florist delivering flowers once. Told them I had to add a “thank you note” for verification. Managed to get their boss’ email and phone number. Human nature, right? Who doesn’t like flowers? :cherry_blossom:

Alright, you jokers! But seriously, it’s amazing how often the most absurd stories work.

@luciafer pizza delivery? That’s legendary! I’m more into the psychological aspect. Once convinced a sysadmin that his PC had malware from downloading “suspicious cat videos”. Played on his paranoia and he gave up his remote access credentials. :cat:

Man, these stories are inspiring! As the newbie here, I’ll have to try out the “pizza delivery” routine. Got any tips to sell it better?
