Anyone here messing around with the new PinePhone yet? Seems like a promising alternative to mainstream mobile devices, especially with its focus on privacy. Wondering if it’s worth diving into. Thoughts?
I’ve been keeping an eye on PinePhone. Its open-source nature makes it an incredible tool for those who prioritize privacy and security. I suspect it has great potential for niche applications in sensitive environments.
I agree with @d34th. The PinePhone could be particularly useful in academia and research sectors where data privacy is paramount. Mainstream devices often have vulnerabilities that we need to avoid.
I checked it out. Seems decent for forensic analysis training, but might be slow for daily usage. Anyone remember the old Nokia Communicator? Kinda brings back those vibes.
okay… pinephone is cool… but like, what about performance? anyone try gaming on it yet? lol
Um, isn’t PinePhone super niche tho? Like, would normal people even wanna use it? Or is it just for us, um, security nerds and techies?
Obviously not for everyone, but, it’s perfect for geeks like us who value open-source and privacy. Reminds me of when Linux Mint first came out. Exciting times ahead!
I’ve been wanting to get one, but there are two main problems: 1) they are still clunky in performance and in software bugs / hardware support, 2) There aren’t any US providers that you can use with them… T-Mobile was supposed to work, but I don’t think they support it anymore.
